Transportation
Little Diomede
This picture shows a contrast between two of the major forms of transportation at the island. A car is not of any use as there are no roads, or even any flat surface to put any. Snowmobiles provide the easiest way around for most of the year when there is snow. Walrus skinned boats continue to be popular means of sea transport when the ice has broken and the water is open. They are even very limited in getting supplies, as there is no room for an airstrip, and they are only accessible by boat for a short time during the summer.
