Haines

Haines is one of only two southeast Alaskan towns that is connected to the outside world by roads.  It has much less tourism than most of the other Inside Passage towns, giving it more of a feel of the 'real Alaska'.  From November to January each year, thousands of eagles flock here for a late season salmon run. While most rivers are frozen over at this point, the Chilkat River stays ice free.
