Winter in Juneau

Juneau, Auke Lake

Winters in Southeast Alaska are much milder than most people think.  It rarely gets as cold as the northern states down in the 'Lower 48'. Though they may get snow at times at sea level, it typically does not last through the winter. When they do get snow, Southeast Alaska is at its most beautiful.  It is only light a few hours each day during early winter, but on a nice day the scenery is spectacular.
