Aurora Borealis Colors

The aurora can take on a variety of colors. Green is by far the most common at the higher latitudes, but bright oranges and reds can occur during larger solar storms. Those colors are more often seen at lower latitudes because it is only the larger storms that tend to be visible further from the polar regions. The leading edges of the curtains sometimes takes on a violet hue.
