Fairbanks
Fairbanks is Alaska's second largest city and the main city of the interior. It still has the feel of a very small compact town, and a rough edge atmosphere. People here take pride in Fairbanks great temperature extremes, from as high as the upper 90's in the summer to as low as the minus 60's in the winter. Fairbanks was established in 1901 at a point in the Chena River where the Riverboats could go no further. Right after the settlement was started, the gold rush in the area began.
