Eklutna
Eklutna, Tanaina Spirit Houses
This cemetery in the village of Eklutna, north of Anchorage, shows a combination of the Russian Orthodox religion with the native traditional culture. Each grave is covered by a spirit house. I don't remember if these houses are a place for the deceased's spirit to stay in its transition to heaven, or if it is a place for them to return to.
