Black Bear

Kenai Fjords National Park, Palisade Lagoon

A black bear climbs up the hillside.  Unless trained to take food from people, or in a position where they feel threatened, black bears tend to be very timid and scared of people.  Black bears tend to be smaller than brown bears, and lack the shoulder hump. But color is not a way to differentiate them, as each type of bear can be any hair color.
