South Central Coast

The south central coastline stretches from the Inside Passage over to the Aleutian Islands. It includes tidewater glaciers at Yakutat and Cordova, and a most impressive collection of glaciers all lined up at College Fjord in Prince William Sound.  Then we visit the coves and glaciers of the Kenai Fjords that are only accessible by boat. We visit Homer, part of which is located on a long spit projecting into the ocean.  Next head up the Cook Inlet to Anchorage, Alaska's largest city by far.  Then a visit to Kodiak Island and viewing the bears at Katmai National Park.  Finally we go to the southern Aleutian Island Chain to see the petrified forest of the Shumagin Islands and the bird rocks of the Haystack Islands on our way to the Bering Sea.
