ALASKA

Alaska has a coastline that is 45,000 miles long, which is longer than the coastline of the entire contiguous United States combined.  It is a fascinating stretch of land and seascape, with mountains, fjords, glaciers and villages.  There is a huge assortment of impressive wildlife including whales, bald eagles, brown bears, puffins, and salmon to name a few.  My experience in Alaska involves work on land in Juneau, Sitka, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kodiak, and St. George Island, as well as on Cruise West's Spirit of Oceanus.  The direction of this site will start in the south in Ketchikan, go up the Inside Passage, on to the Kenai Peninsula, to the Aleutian Islands, and up through the Bering Sea to Nome.  The last section includes portions of the Interior.  It does not include the northern Arctic coastline, as I have not been there (yet). Navigate this page by clicking on the images below or the map.
