Laban Rata Guest House
Mt Kinabalu, Laban Rata Guesthouse
This is the resthouse where most hikers stay to break up the trip. Typically, most people arrive there in the early afternoon, and rest up to begin the remainder of the hike at about 2am with the goal of reaching the summit by sunrise. It is best to get up there early, as it is typically cloud-covered and rainy by mid-day. At this point, the vegetation starts getting sparse and the rest of the climb is over open rock.
