Poverty runs rampant in India. With the different societal class systems or Castes, Hindu people are born into a particular class and have no hope or way of getting out of that class. Living a righteous and religious life this time will give you a better chance of improving your caste in your next life. There is no chance of improving your lot now by hard work or education.
