It had to come up sometime. People are always curious about the 'facilities' in other countries. This in-the-floor toilet is fairly typical, with the foot supports for squatting. Many places only have a hole in the floor. Some do have regular 'western style' toilets, but those occasionally even have the foot supports on the edge of the toilet seat so people can squat above the toilet rather than sit on the seat. It is much cleaner that way.
