Agrigento

Agrigento itself is not a particularly pretty or interesting city, but is home to the Valley of the Temples, where the ancient Greeks built ten temples during the sixth to fifth centuries BC, parts of nine of which remain today.  Much of the destruction of the temples was done by Christians doing anti-pagan activities, sparing the Temple of Concord, which was converted into a church.
