Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of History

Hiroshima Museum of Prefectural History, Fukuyama, Japan

A prefecture in Japan is a governmental unit, similar to a state in the U.S.  This museum is about the archeological history of the Hiroshima Prefecture.  Most of the museum is a reconstruction of the village of Kusado Sengen which was destroyed by flooding about 600 years ago.  Artifacts have been recovered the way were left in a sandbar in the river and rebuilt in the museum to look as it did then.  This section depicts the wharf.
