Shoin Jinja Shrine

This is a shrine to Yoshida Shoin, the man who was the inspiration for the Meiji Restoration, which brought back the emperor from the samurai state, and opened Japan up to the more modern world.  He never lived to see the changes, as he was executed for inciting the rebellion.
