Hagi

Hagi is famous for being the town that brought Japan into the modern world by overturning the samurai regime and bringing about the Meiji Restoration of 1868.  Ironically, today it is one of the best preserved historical towns in Japan. It is a refreshingly calm and quiet town to explore after many of the hectic and loud bigger cities of Japan.
