Taranaki Area

The Taranaki area is a rounded peninsula in the western North Island created by lava flows from the Mt Taranaki Volcano.  Mt Taranaki, a near perfect volcanic cone, is also known as Mt Egmont, which is also the name of the National Park. When I visited, it was mostly cloudy and rainy, so the mountain was rarely visible.
