White Island

White Island is the most active volcano in New Zealand, with fumaroles constantly spewing smoke and frequent eruptions.    Visitors can only see the island on a tour, and must have hard hats and gas masks.  The island sits in the Bay of Plenty, off the north coast of the North Island. I found it to be one of the most interesting places I saw in New Zealand.
