St. Johns, Signal Hill, Cabot Tower
It was in this tower in 1901 that Marconi received the first transatlantic wireless signal. Signal Hill overlooks the town and ocean. The tower was built in 1898 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Cabot's discovery of St. Johns Harbor, and also the diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria's coronation.
