Moose have been a very successful animal in Newfoundland, though they are a compelling reason to avoid driving at night there. There are many fatalities when automobiles hit into these huge animals with their spindly legs and huge bodies set right at windshield level. Their dark hair and non-reflective retinas make them very hard to see when driving at night.
