Southwest Newfoundland

Newfoundland can be reached only by plane or by boat. Most people arrive by ferry, either at Port aux Basques in the southwest, or at Argentia on the Avalon Peninsula.  For those arriving in the southwest, this region is their introduction to the island.  Many of the small fishing villages are very remote and not connected to each other by road. The scenery is stark and beautiful.
