St. Pierre
This cannon looks prepared to take on the lighthouse if it makes a false move. St. Pierre and Miquelon (the other main island) were English possessions after the Seven Years War, but were turned over to the French by the treaty of Paris in 1763 to provide them a place to shelter their ships. The islands changed hands between the English and French many times until it was finally a permanent French Colony in 1815.
