Portland Head Light
Portland, Portland Head Light
One of the most recognizable lighthouses, this one has a museum in the old lighthouse keepers building. In the distance, to the right, can be seen yet another lighthouse. The Portland Head Light is the oldest of Maine's lighthouses. The first keeper was appointed by George Washington, and was not paid for his efforts. Maine was actually part of Massachusetts at that time.
