State Capitol

Concord, State Capitol

The New Hampshire State Capitol is the oldest in the country that still meets in its original  chambers. The House of Representatives is the largest of any state.  The idea of the New Hampshire forefathers was that the larger a committee, the less that gets done.  They wanted minimal governmental control over the lives of the people, so they made the legislature very large so they could accomplish very little.  Even the governor has a Governor's Council which must approve many of the governor's decisions and appointments.
