Fort Constitution
New Castle, Fort Constitution, New Castle Lighthouse
The New Castle light stands proudly in front of Fort Constitution. The fort was the site of the first altercation of the American Revolution, when colonists stormed the British fort (at that time known as Fort William and Mary) and stole some of the munitions and stores on December 14, 1774. Today there is a US Coast Guard base here.
