Panama Canal, Miraflores Locks, Locomotive
One of the locomotives guides a large container ship through the Miraflores Locks. Going through the Canal is not cheap. Costs for passage have ranged from 36˘ for a swimmer back in the 1930's to over $100,000 for some of the mega ships of today. These days, if you want to take a kayak or rowboat through, the minimum charge is $500. Still cheaper than going the long way around!
