San Felipe Church
Portobelo, San Felipe Church
This church is famous for its black Jesus, a statue that was being sent from Spain to Peru, but sank in the bay, and recovered and kept by townspeople, who saw it as a good omen. It has been kept in the church ever since, except for one day a year, when it is brought out on display for a procession down the streets.
