Cathedral of the Dormition

Moscow, Kremlin, Cathedral of the Dormition

This is the facade of the largest of the cathedrals in the Kremlin and is where the Grand Princes and Tsars were crowned.  It was finished in 1479, and was a model for many of the Russian Orthodox cathedrals.  The word "dormition" means "falling asleep or death" , and the cathedral celebrates the dormition of the virgin.  It is sometimes referred to also as the Cathedral of the Assumption.
