Big Bend National Park, Rio Grande at Hot Springs
This shallow river does not look all that difficult to cross, even without a boat. On the other side of the river is Mexico. If an American wants to go there legally, he or she must travel about 80 miles up the road to a legal border crossing. Until recently, tourists were allowed to cross and visit some of the small border towns. I am sure those towns have suffered a lot as a result.
