Kennedy Assassination Site
Dallas
This is the spot where president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed in front of a large group of people assembled to see his motorcade go by. The shot (?) was supposedly fired from one of the top windows of the building above. Today, Dallas boasts that this is their top tourist attraction. It costs a lot of money to go inside, and ticket holders are not allowed to take pictures inside. That is done to encourage people to buy their books and postcards. I am personally offended by that kind of attitude, as I feel a city should be embarrassed by such an assassination, not profiting from it, and should restore such a building as a memorial. Hopefully other cities don't start looking at similar ways they could create a hugely profitable tourist attraction like this!
