Hadrian's Wall, Houseteads Roman Fort
Hadrian's Wall extends for 73 miles just south of the border of Scotland and England. It was built 15 feet high with small forts or observation turrets every mile. It marked the northern border of the Roman Empire, and protected the rest of the island from the Barbarians. Much of it is remarkably well preserved.
