Scotland

While Scotland is technically not a country in its own right, it still has a very separate identity from the rest of the United Kingdom, with its own parliament.  It even prints some of its own currency, though it is still tied to the British Pound.  Scotland's history and character are unique, and it is blessed with a spectacular 6200 mile coastline, 787 islands, and beautiful rugged barren highlands.
