UNITED KINGDOM

The United Kingdom is a difficult geographical entity to define. Even some of the British people seem to be confused.  I had an argument with some locals on a train who insisted that Northern Ireland was not part of the U.K., even though the full name is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland".   All of the entities have their own political variations, some with their own parliament, some with their own currency, and different allegiances to the crown.  Whatever the political geography, they are all fascinating places, each with its own unique character.  The places included here are only the places I have been to within the United Kingdom.
