Dixie National Forest

With a name like Dixie, I would have thought this national forest was in Alabama or Mississippi, but in fact it is in southern Utah. Utah's southwest is known as Dixie, in part because of the early Mormon influx of southerners to try to grow cotton and retain some of their southern culture.  Many things in this area are named Dixie, including the Dixie State College in St. George.
