Korean War Memorial

The Korean War Veterans Memorial was built in 1995 and commemorates the Korean Conflict of 1950-1953, where 55,000 Americans and  tens of thousands of soldiers from other United Nations countries lost their lives and many more were missing or wounded.  It consists of life-sized soldiers moving across a field toward an American flag, backed by a black granite wall with etchings depicting other aspects of the war effort.
