Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
C&O Canal, Maryland
The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal connects Georgetown to Cumberland, Maryland, 184 miles away. It was built to help bring commerce and settlement to the west. It was eventually replaced by the railways, but is a calm contrast to the city today.
